Dr. Martina Oghenevovwero Agberien, an alumnus of the Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA), Washington D.C, a grantee of the John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation Fund for Leadership Development for a project to raise awareness on reproductive health challenges affecting female adolescents in Delta State, Nigeria, a Board of Trustees member of the Oghenekevwe Michael Sejebor Foundation, an NGO that caters for the needs of the less privileged, a volunteer member of the Rose of Sharon Foundation, an NGO focused on poverty alleviation of widows and orphans, a co-host of a health talk show ‘THE PHYSICIANS’ is currently a Director, Medical with the Nigerian Television Authority, Lagos Network Centre.
She had a first Degree in Medicine & Surgery from the University of Benin in 1994. In 2005, she obtained her Master of Public Health Degree from the University of Lagos and a certificate from Family Health International in Research Ethics Training Curriculum.
In 2008, she was appointed as a World Health Organization/African Programme on Onchocerciasis Control (WHO/APOC) Temporary Adviser and team member on Evaluation of sustainability of Akwa Ibom State Community Development Training on Ivermectin project, Nigeria (5th year), a WHO African Program for Onchocerciasis Control.
In 2012, she obtained a certificate Course in Broadcasting from the School of Media and Communication, Pan African University.
She was a National Planning Committee Member of the 1st National Vaccine Summit held in 2012.
As a public health advocate and physician, she commenced and presented a paper on Vaccine-Preventable Diseases to a team of health journalists at a workshop organized by the media committee in preparation for the 1st National Vaccine summit in Nigeria in 2012.
In 2013, she was a resource person at a workshop on improving Child Health and Development organized by John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in collaboration with Bronze & Onyx International for the wives of Traditional Emirs and stakeholders in Gusau, Zamfara State of Northern Nigeria.
She was also a sub-committee member, in the Abuja +12 special summit of the African Union on HIV, TB, and Malaria which was held in Abuja, Nigeria.
In 2019, she obtained a Health Management Programme Certificate from the prestigious Enterprise Development Centre of the Pan Atlantic University, Nigeria.
Dr. Martina Agberien anchored a health Programme ‘Doctor on Demand’ (Mothercare) on National Television. She was also a health columnist on a National Newspaper ‘Saturday Mirror’
She has attended several professional courses both locally and internationally. She has over 25years of experience in medical practice and administration.
She loves traveling, reading, and supporting women and children in need on health matters.
She is a member of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN) Lagos Branch and held
the position of Public Relations Officer of the Association, (2017-2019) biennium.
She is the immediate past Assistant Coordinator I of the Catholic Women Organisation of the Lekki Deanery and currently the Secretary of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of the Catholic Church of The Transfiguration, Victoria Garden City.
She is happily married with Children.
